This article examines the role of scientific research in the development of a road asset management system in the Republic of Tajikistan. It is shown that modern road management should be based not only on routine repairs and operational maintenance, but also on regular diagnostics, digital asset accounting, road network condition forecasting, economic and mathematical assessment of repair measures, and the rational allocation of limited financial resources. It is substantiated that scientific research provides a methodological basis for the transition from fragmented road infrastructure management to a systemic model of road lifecycle management. Particular attention is paid to the use of operational condition indicators, digital databases, GIS technologies, repair prioritization methods, and asset management principles. A structure for scientific support of a road asset management system, as well as a cycle of evidence-based decision-making for the conditions of the Republic of Tajikistan, is proposed.
