A potentiometric method was used to study the complexation of silver(I) with 2-mercaptoimidazole in aqueous dimethylformamide solutions. The acid-base properties of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole were investigated in these environments depending on the content of the nonaqueous solvent. Using the determined ionization constants, the regions of dominance of various forms of 2-mercaptoimidazole were determined depending on the solution pH. The diagram for this region is constructed mathematically using mole fractions, percentages, and fractions of the total ligand concentration (molecular or ionized) at a specific pH value. The complexation of silver with this organic ligand was studied, and the composition and stability of the resulting complexes were determined.
