Annotation:

The study investigates the catalytic properties of iron oxide catalysts in the form of wüstite of iron in the heterogeneous synthesis of ammonia. The effects of structure-forming and activating promoters (Al₂O₃, K₂O) and the addition of CoO on the specific surface area, reaction rate constant, and specific catalytic activity of the catalysts were examined. It was found that the optimal contents of Al₂O₃ and K₂O are 15 wt.% and 5 wt.%, respectively, while the addition of approximately 5 wt.% CoO ensures the maximum activity of the iron catalyst. It was determined that the optimal temperature for the Haber–Bosch process with this catalysator is approximately 450 °C.

Keywords: catalyst, wustite, ammonia, promoters, catalytic activity, specific surface area, low-temperature synthesis.
