Annotation:

A comprehensive review of research papers aimed at improving methods for calculating short-circuit currents in modern power systems has been conducted. The study justifies the necessity of refining calculation techniques in the context of increasing power capacities and the implementation of complex equipment, highlighting significant errors in existing standards due to simplified assumptions. The impact of key influencing factors is analyzed: rotor swings, decay time constants, static and dynamic phase shifts (non-synchronism) of synchronous generators, and the parameters of modern cable lines. Furthermore, the specifics of transient processes in installations with power electronics are considered, including systems with non-linear loads and wind power plants based on doubly-fed induction machines. It is recommended to continue research into developing refined methodologies and computational models that ensure high accuracy of results for optimal relay protection settings, as well as for cost reduction during the design and replacement of electrical equipment for power plants, grids, and power systems as a whole.
