The article is devoted to the topical task of optimizing the placement of compensating devices in electrical networks with non-linear loads. During the optimization, special attention is paid to minimizing the risks of harmonic resonance when installing compensating devices. A comprehensive approach is presented, integrating the calculation of the predicted resonance occurrence coefficient into the iterative process of metaheuristic search. Using the southern part of the Tajikistan power system as an example, a comparative study of the effectiveness of three algorithms was conducted: Particle Swarm Optimization, Grey Wolf Optimizer, and Salp Swarm Algorithm. The simulation results confirmed the advantage of the Salp Swarm Algorithm, which ensured stable convergence to the global optimum, allowing for a 16,9 % reduction in power losses and normalizing the voltage levels at the nodes of the studied circuit to 99,1 % of the nominal voltage. At the same time, constraints regarding the possibility of resonance were strictly observed.
Keywords: metaheuristic algorithms, compensating device, salp swarm algorithm, resonance, power losses, voltage.
