Annotation:

The paper develops a mathematical model describing the effect of temperature on the friction coefficient of the braking system of a Mercedes-Benz W211 vehicle. Linear and exponential dependencies of the friction coefficient on the brake disc temperature are considered, and a temperature fading coefficient is introduced to characterize the intensity of its reduction during heating. It is established that at a temperature of about 400 °C the friction coefficient decreases by approximately 35%, while the difference between the linear and exponential models within the operating temperature range is insignificant. The applicability of the obtained relationships for engineering calculations of braking distance and for assessing the thermal stability of braking systems is demonstrated.
