The short-circuit diagnostic system being developed is based on the hypothesis that installing an additional information winding allows for the detection of machine magnetic asymmetry that occurs under emergency conditions. The theoretical foundation of this approach is based on the classical method of symmetrical components. However, practical implementation is associated with a number of technical uncertainties. In particular, the method's effectiveness may be reduced by factors not considered in the original theoretical model: the nonlinear effect of magnetic circuit saturation (which violates the superposition principle) and the influence of higher harmonic components of the magnetic field. To verify the proposed concept and assess the impact of these factors, tests were conducted on a working generator prototype.
