This article describes the analytical procedures for selecting structural steel based on its operating conditions. Key criteria for ensuring the strength and durability of mechanical engineering products are identified. Particular attention is paid to the engineering approach to developing a material that guarantees stable performance characteristics when interacting with the working environment under mechanical loads.
